We don’t think it’s too much to ask. Neither do the Europeans. In fact earlier this month Members of the European Parliament’s Environment Committee (MEPs) voted for a moratorium on the use of nanomaterials in food until have undergone safety assessments by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA). And from last week nano-ingredients in food have to be clearly labelled.
Australians should have the same right to know what’s in their food as Europeans – and the same assurance that food ingredients are safe before they are put on the market.
With your help we can campaign for our food regulator Food Standards Australia New Zealand (FSANZ) to adopt a safety first approach and ensure the safety testing and labelling of nano-ingredients in food.
Friends of the Earth’s Emerging Tech Campaign is entirely reliant on donations from individuals like yourself to do the work we do. Please consider donating what you can.
Thanks so much for your support this year. We wish you a wonderful and relaxing festive season.
